“Angus” 1960 bad boy Bugeye Sprite for sale!

This is a passion project from a great customer of ours in the Boston. Angus put a lot of passion into this car and an impressive parts list. The car could use paint, but it also is highly usable as it is… check out the list of upgrades and if you want a modified super sprite in a plain vanilla wrapper, and give us a call!

1959 sleeper Sprite for Sale!

We are pleased to be able to have “Mooney” (AN5L 17816) available once again! Mooney is a Bugeye we sold last spring and added more than $12k in upgrades, all of which were installed for the prior owner just one year ago! He has moved to a new location and couldn’t bring the car, so we were happy to buy it back, to pass it on to a new owner. The car has a massive list of upgrades, all done in our shop just a year ago, and this one is a delight to drive. Don’t be fooled by the exterior (It’s weathered and can use a paint job). But if you like cars with patina, here’s an opportunity to buy a ton of already-installed upgrades at a dramatically depreciated rate.

We invested a lot of hours into the revival of this car, which came to us initially after a long hibernation. We completely rewired the car; we also put in all new brake lines (hard and soft lines) and hard lines for the fuel system, and changed all the hydraulic parts. We restored the dashboard (removed, welded shut extra holes, filled and recovered the dashboard) and installed an upgraded GPS speedometer and electronic tachometer. We also fit a new ignition switch and locking guillotine and we changed the dip switch harness and the headlight harness. Everything now works as it should.

We fit a brand new premium tonneau and top, and we used premium new hydraulic parts throughout the car. We also put in all new piping for the oil pressure gauge, a new panel light switch, choke cable and original fuel gauge and a new combo gauge as well. There’s also a brand new aluminum radiator and all new water hoses, a new starter cable, a new water pump as well as a solid-state voltage regulator. Also a brand new premium fuel tank, sender with metal float and fuel pump. The battery is new, as are the cables. We further upgraded the car with rebuilt carburetors, a new brake light switch, new front shocks and radius arms.

Upon its return to Bugeyeguys World Headquarters earlier this month, we added new seats with all new parts, new premium foams and frames and new covers. The seats alone were a massive investment.

We also added new air filters and a Moto-lita steering wheel!

It’s a really big list for such a small car, and in the drive video below, you should be able to see that it’s really a blast to drive. It brakes and stops well, tracks well, and anyone can drive this car anywhere. New tires are in order. These have plenty of tread, but they’re a bit old.

Vibrant head-turning 1960 MGA for sale! Great driver!

Here’s a really nice MGA that we’re excited to have for sale!  It’s a 1960 MGA (GHNL84453) with a really beautiful finish and a lot of great restoration work complete. The interior features leather seats, which are rare to find and of course the nice red piping coordinates beautifully. It’s got the stock and original 1600 engine and (stock) front disc brakes as well as really sharp wire wheels. The car is solid and pretty much ready to go. 

We’ve just installed a new generator/alternator, so it looks stock, but is actually an alternator inside an original-looking generator body. The regulator looks stock too but it’s actually a brand new dummy regulator with a 50 amp fuse inside that looks exactly like the original, so this is a hot set up for improved charging, especially at low RPMs. It’s lighter than the stock set up with better bearings, too. We’ve rebuilt the carbs as well for improved driving performance! Slave cylinder is also new.

The interior is a tasteful all-black affair with red accents on the seats and center armrest. The top and tonneau are present and the side curtains are in the trunk, carefully nestled in a Bugeyeguys side curtain wallet!

Beautiful BRG 1977 MGB w/OD for sale! PRICE REDUCED $17,995!

Here’s something a little bit different! “Toby” (GHN5-UH410916G) is a 1977 MGB that came to us from a very conscientious owner who sorted-out all the mechanicals to make this is a really nice MGB that you can drive anywhere! She runs and drives extremely well and the electric overdrive is a dream.

The prior owner had this car for 26 years. He purchased it in in 1997 with about 90K miles on the clock, rebuilt the engine, transmission and overdrive, installed a new Weber carb and recored the radiator. He also addressed any rust on the car and had it repainted at that time. The car now shows about 115k miles, so there are only 25k miles on the rebuilt engine and transmission.

The car is also fit with an exhaust header (and no catalytic converter). The car has a very nice exhaust note.

This is a special car for a lot of reasons. The rubber bumpers allow for an easier time parallel parking than, say, an earlier MGB with lower chrome bumpers. Its larger size makes it easier to get into and out of compared to a Sprite or Midget. The car has a rebuilt engine and has been well-restored.

Toby just this week received brand new seats, which are very comfortable and contrast well with Toby’s British Racing Green paint. Note that we replaced all the seat components… all new foam and diaphragms reside under the nice new covers, for the most comfortable ride. This car has also been the recipient of a Weber carburetor, a significant upgrade over the factory-original Stromberg carburetor originally installed on this era of MGB.

Toby also has electronic ignition, which is more reliable than the original points and condensor. Electric instrumentation means no tach cable, allowing for more accurate RPM readings, and no tube filled with ether to leak and cause the temperature gauge to stop working (as on older chrome bumper MGBs). Toby also has an extra electric cooling fan installed for improved cooling performance, with an additional manual override switch on the dash. The Laycock overdrive unit (operated via a thumb switch on the shift knob) means improved cruising at highway speeds. It’s a lot of fun to slide that switch… it makes me smile every time since it’s a very nostalgic reminder of the days before paddle shifters were invented. Comfortable and sustained highway cruising are easy with the overdrive engaged.

Toby’s convertible top is upgraded and premium stayfast material (more like canvas, or what you would find on a Germany convertible). The rear window shows its age but is still a nice top. The top also has an awesome zip-down back window to allow for airflow through the cockpit while the top is up, helping keep the sun off of your head while still being able to feel the wind through your hair (or what’s left of it).

There are a couple of minor things that Toby could use to further make him better. The driver’s side mirror is loose and will require replacement, and the add-on manual choke cable needs its bracket secured up under the dash, and perhaps we can replace the rear window on the top, but none of these affect its drivability and we would be happy to remedy these items for Toby’s next owner!

Originality in classic cars is fascinating, and especially so in Bugeyes. So many of these cars have been modified, re-fitted, re-purposed, re-powered, or simply recycled that a truly original Bugeye is a rare sight. That’s why we are so excited to be able to bring our 1959 survivor “Seabiscuit” to the forefront of the discussion on survivor Sprites.
