This is a Bugeye we are incredibly excited about! Meet “Palmer” (AN5L 27237), a 1960 Austin Healey Sprite finished in a brilliant shade of white. Palmer is a Bugeye that we sold to its previous owner in 2017 and has spent the last 8 years in Arizona.
Palmer is a 948 car that runs well, with upgraded HS2 carburetors and an electronic ignition distributor. An aluminum radiator helps keep the cooling system running at its best. The rib case transmission also shifts well. This is a really fun car to cruise around in! Front disc brakes aid in efficient stopping, as well.
The interior is in very nice condition. The seat bottom cushions and trays were replaced in 2017 before the car was shipped to Arizona and are incredibly comfortable. The matching red carpet is in excellent condition with rubber floor mats helping to protect that carpet from damage. Three-point retractable seat belts have also been installed, an important safety feature. The white paint is in good condition and shines beautifully in the sun!
As with any Bugeye, there are things we can update for the new owner should they desire. The tires are from 2015 and have held up well, but are at the end of their life cycle and could use replacement. We could also upgrade the charging system to one with a generator/alternator, which provides a more consistent charge. The current system is working perfectly fine, but can be upgraded should the new owner desire.
The weather equipment, however, does not need upgrading. The top and side curtains were new in 2017 and they still look and fit as if they were fitted yesterday! The tonneau is a little older than the top and side curtains but looks and fits absolutely perfectly. The top bow is a single-piece bow painted white; top bow holders are not currently installed in the cockpit for storing the bow, but can be added quite easily for the new owner, should they desire.
