This is a car we call “Midnight” (AN5L 8136), a 948-powered Bugeye upgraded with a Ford five-speed transmission. Midnight has been in our care twice now for major upgrades; we first met this car when we sold it in 2018 to a family in Arizona, who took care of it for five years, then we sold the car again in the spring of 2023 to a wonderful client of ours in Arkansas. He had us do a ton of work to the car to improve it before delivery in 2023, and now he’s done with the car and someone gets to enjoy the work done for these prior owners! In 2023, Midnight’s most recent owner had us perform several large-scale upgrades in order to maximize its potential. These included brand new HS2 carburetors, a front disc brake conversion, a brand new ignition switch, new fuel line, new master cylinder and slave, and more!
We also performed thousands of dollars worth of upgrades before shipping the car to Arizona in 2018. This list is just as extensive, and includes one of our exclusive ignition guillotines, three-point retractable seat belts, LED parking and brake lights, a new custom white tonneau and bikini top, top, side curtain, and top bow bags, tri-bar headlights, and new door seals.
In addition to these cosmetic improvements, Midnight was also provided with a vast array of mechanical upgrades, which include tapered front wheel bearings, an aluminum radiator, a new electronic distributor, new fuel tank, fuel line, and new rubber isolators for the electric fuel pump, new front sway bar, steering column bushings, new rack boots and tie rod ends, new upgraded front shocks, a rear main seal upgrade kit, K & N air filters, and of course, a five-speed Ford transmission!
Even though this car has a few cosmetic flaws, it is incredibly well-sorted car mechanically so you can enjoy cruising around right away! The white bikini top will provide shade even under the sunniest conditions and still allow for proper airflow!
