NOW SOLD TO John in Brantford, Canada! Way to go John!
Here’s a fun celebrity Sprite factoid… the seller of this car mentioned that this was formerly Kevin Bacon’s car and I didn’t think much of it, but I found an interview with the actor, and was impressed to see him mention his old green Bugeye in the interview (click here to read it)!
The car has come a long way since then. Drive with me, below:
AN5L 24754 is a very nice Bugeye we now call “Bacon.” The car was hibernating for the past ten or so years but is now back in service, due to our restoration of the mechanicals to make the car drive once again. We fit a new fuel tank and many new hydraulic parts to refresh the brake and clutch system and ensure a clean fuel supply. Now the car is ready for a new home.

It’s a very solid car, having spent much of its life in California.
The mechanicals are quite good, with a 1275 engine that shows good power, strong oil pressure and no smoke. We just performed a major makeover on the car, by pulling the engine and installing a new clutch and rebuilt transmission. We also added a rear main seal kit to eradicate oil leaks. We had already replaced all the wheel cylinders (all drum brakes) and brake lines, slave cylinder too. The car drives really nicely!
The paint is still quite strong. It’s an older paint job with a few flaws, but overall the car shines quite nicely as shown. There is a lot of life left in this paint job, and it’s a very pleasing color on the car.

We also just put on four factory correct wheels and 155 tires. These look great! And we lowered the rear end to make the car sit properly. Notice how nice the wheel arches now look.
There is more to do… the rack boots need replacement, and the tach and speedo need rebuilding or replacement. We can do as much or as little as the new owner desires.

The interior is quite good. We’ve just enrobed the car in new black carpet. The seat covers are from a later Sprite, and have a bit more lower-back support than the stock Bugeye seats. They’re comfortable! The dashboard is still in quite nice shape.

There is no heater installed (although we can add one) and the weber carb works quite well although it has a slight stumble, which is common for these carbs. The radiator has been recored and the installed oil cooler will also help keep things cool, should the car end-up in a hot climate.
I like this car a lot, it has a great vibe, you can feel it. It’s available for $16,995. Call or email if you would like to take this car home!
