I love tonneaus.
They keep out the leaves, sun, dust (and most of the rain). They are quick to fasten and unfasten, and they usually keep people who are up to no good from messing with the interiors of our cars.
A drum tight tonneau is also very satisfying to the eye. In the past 5 years I have fit more than 50 Bugeye tonneaus. If you are unfamiliar, these vinyl covers come with a bag full of fittings which need to be precisely located on the vinyl for proper tonneau fit. The custom stretching and sinking of fasteners if one of my favorite jobs. It’s never boring, because every tonneau is slightly different in terms of fit and placement. I am always engaged in the quest for the perfect fit.
Lately, we have expanded our color offerings. Black is easy, and by far the most common. In these photos, I salute our customers who have taken a slightly less conventional path, and gone for a more elegant color palette. At the top we have Iris, sporting an off-white tonneau to match her white wall shoes. Next up is Roxy with a warm cream tan ensemble. Finally, we have Duffy with a blue long tonneau, and Lucy in the background with a short black tonneau.
A tonneau is a great accessory, but also a color opportunity that can bring out a new level of elegance for any British car.
